Product Description
Techno NSD Powerball is the very latest addition to the exciting family of NSD Powerball products! This innovative gyroscope scrolls your achieved score 'magically' across the surface of the rotor (as opposed to displaying it instantly on a digital speed meter as with the other models in the range). The rotor also displays an entrancing collection of 'firelines' as it spins, ranging from red to blue in colour and giving an a truly amazing effect depending on the speed at which it is revolving.

5 out of 5 stars Couldn't be easier!   August 16, 2007

I was intrigued by an Amazon email, had a look around on the web and decided to give it a try. Fortunatly I went straight for the Powerball Signature series with the led readout on the top. (The flashing light also gave it some appeal!)
Such a simple workout and already my Squash backhand is improving. With the readout on the top you are always trying to better yourself. (It also is great fun in competition with a competative son).
Particularly with racket sports this is a fun way of strenghtening your grip, through your wrists, and up to your shoulder.
Todate I've ordered 5 more for other people who are now enjoying the workout, and competition, of this amazing...toy!

Truly useful and beneficial. I've got a knackered shoulder, carpal tunnel/RSI due to years of guitars and drumming. I'm not going to make any wild claims, but I genuinely feel it's helped; whether it's down to this thing or not, my wrist is definitely less painful and more flexible. Certainly not done any harm.

Also a great 'pub toy'! The 1-star reviews aren't deserved. I've bought 5 now for presents (believe it or not), and all recipients have been intrigued to the point of annoyance. The hills are alive with the sound of whirring. Mind you, when you're winding up for a speed attempt, it does look like you're going for a personal 'one-armed power session'.

More than happy with product and service. Great fun!

5 out of 5 stars Easy when you know how!   May 25, 2007

I was looking for some way to exercise while sitting in the office all day and decided to buy this little gem after reading the reviews below. It's a bit tricky when you start but you quickly get the 'feel' for it and when you do its great fun!!! Really works the arms and hand muscles which will hopefully improve my tennis game.
As the other reviewers mention, the magic readout is tricky to see BUT here is the answer!!
TIP: connect the wrist strap (included in the box) and when you finish 'spinning' let the powerball dangle freely from the cord on your wrist. Your score will now be really easy to see on the rotor!! Enjoy!

5 out of 5 stars Worked well for us, but it does take practice!   July 30, 2007

I'm an oldie but got the hang of it with my right hand fairly quickly. I could soon keep it going - until my muscles got tired. The left hand took longer, and both hands took more time for my technique to improve enough until the *ingenious* "Laser Display Screen" resolved properly.
But when it did, our great-nephew (15) and his mum both went "C o o o l ! " and proceeded to learn it in a minute, display and all. They both play drums, so that's why I *had* to give them mine, and then order another one.
Ours really works, and if yours doesn't, why not send it back and try another? Seriously fun light show in the dark!

5 out of 5 stars A superb gadget   May 3, 2007

I bought a normal powerball because I was intrigued by the idea. I really enjoyed spinning it up and strengthening my arms/wrists with it but I don't feel the standard powerball is "fun" enough. This Techno one is far better because the speed you got it up to scrolls across by lighting little LEDs in just the right way to form numbers! It's brilliant! It also sometimes scrolls text, if you spin it at a different speed.

It's just like a normal powerball - same robust build, same smooth feel - but it's got that extra gimmick of the scrolling display.

At first I had a bit of difficulty holding it still enough to properly see the numbers and text scroll across, but within a couple of days I worked out that you have to hold it as loosely as possible when it's winding down, not exerting any forces in any direction non-coplanar to the way the gyro is spinning. With a bit of practice you can learn to very lightly exert a force perpendicular to the gyrospin that will spin the display to be facing the best way up to view the numbers as they scroll across.

Great toy!
